As I said last month I am studying the Book of Job. I would like to take you on that journey with me. Okay, we are going to the Land of Uz. (not to be confused with the Land of OZ. You remember, Dorothy, Toto, and the scarecrow. You know, those flying monkeys always scared the heck out of me). Oh sorry, back to Job.

Come, let’s go to the Land of Uz. Job lived in the Land of Uz. (The Syrian Desert) The Lord sent Paul there and He schooled and disciplined many of His men out there on that desert. Now, your Land of Uz and my Land of Uz may be in different places geographically. It could be any place on the earth. That is not the important matter. The important thing is that there are certain lessons God wants us to learn in that place.

Now, if you don’t remember the Book of Job, Job was a very wealthy man. Lovely family with an abundance of everything. But he had one fear in his heart. Fear that his children may have sinned. So he would send burnt offerings up according to the number of his children. That’s what they did back then for the forgiveness of sins. Now that burnt offering speaks of Christ. Christ is everywhere in the Bible. Like Where’s Waldo? But, you have to read the Bible to find Him. Now, this man Job was a man of God.

OK. Next scene opens in Heaven. Neither Job nor any of the other people in this Book knew that this took place at all. READ JOB 1:6. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. (Job 1:6). This will enable us today to understand and interpret some of the things which happen to God’s people. It’s not the total explanation, but it is a part of it.

Now, this is the scene in Heaven. The sons of God, His created intelligences, come before Him. They are not human beings; they do not belong to our race. Yet these are God’s created intelligences, and they are responsible creatures. It seems they come to God and must report to Him as a matter of regular routine. We are told that ” Satan came also among them.” That is a surprise, you think? And the Lord said unto Satan, “whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (Job 1:7) By the way, Satan must also make a report. Isn’t that amazing! Do you think he came from Hell? No, he didn’t. You see, Hell hasn’t been opened up yet. Hell is the place prepared for the devil and his angels, but they are not there yet. The fact of the matter is that Satan has as much access to this earth as you and I have, and more so. Are you following me? This earth is the do-main of Satan.

P.S. : don’t be scared now. Put on the Armour of God and stand firm. STAND FIRM.

Standing on the promises of God My Saviour,
