Prelude “Intermezzo from Sonata No. 3”

By J. Rheinberger

Organist: Robert Gardner

Welcome:  Rev. Erin Phillips

*Call to Worship: Chip Chapman

Leader: We give thanks today for fathers who showed up, played, danced, taught and learned;

People: For fathers who kissed our scrape and held us in strong arms when we were weak;

Leader: For fathers who believed in us, and trusted us with our own futures;

People: For fathers who turn small acts of kindness into moving mountains for God’s Kingdom;

Leader: For fathers who had high standards, yet deep compassion;

People: For fathers who taught us rules to live by;

Leader: For fathers who protected us and sought after our welfare;

People: For fathers who were never related to us by blood or by law but stood in as a father figure;

Leader: For our Eternal Father showed us true love, filled us with the Spirit and gives us eternal life.

People: We give thanks to them all. Amen

*Invocation:  Rev. Erin Phillips

*The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Pastoral Prayer: Rev. Erin Phillips

Anthem “This Is My Father’s World”

By Maltbie D. Babcock

Chancel Choir Women

This is my Father’s world, and to my list’ning ears

All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.

This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas—His hand the wonders wrought.

Scripture Reading:  Mark 4:35-41; 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

Sermon “Catch and Release”

Rev. Erin Phillips

Closing Hymn:  “Be Still My Soul”

Postlude “Toccata on Come Thou Fount”

By Robert Gardner

Organist: Robert Gardner

Come thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace

Streams of mercy never ceasing call for songs of loudest praise

Teach me some melodious sonnet sung by flaming tongues above

Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love

“Dedicated in loving memory of my father-in-law, Harry N. Becker” ~ Bob
